Oats to Ozoni

Oats (ohts) The seeds of plant used as a food for humans and animals.  Oats for human consumption must be toasted, hulled and cleaned first.

Oignon (uhn yohn) A French term for “Onion”.

Olio (oh iyoh) An Italian term for “Oil”.

Oliva (oh lee vah) An Italian term for “Olive”.

Orzo (ohr zoh) An Italian for “Barley”.

Ozoni (oh zoh nee) A traditional Japanese soup served during New Year’s celebration.  Also known as “Zoni”.  This soup made with chicken, dashi, daikon and other vegetables.
